The Contemporary Resort at Walt Disney World used to be one of the coolest stops on the Magic Kingdom monorail. It had a strange but sophisticated modern interior, including some cutting edge 'tree' sculptures.
Perhaps I was too young, but I don't remember ever having seen these in person. Now that I've seen these vintage photos, all I can say is that I'm sad they aren't around anymore.

(I found these amazing vintage photographs of the Contemporary Resort on Imagineeringdisney.com) Nowadays the resort tries to be "modern" but what we end up with are some bizarre and sometimes gaudy design choices. (aka: chef mickey's...) It is the only resort on the track that has a pathway for the monorail to pass through the lobby rather than outside. The orlando vacation store disney page has more information and pictures of the resort as it exists now.
