The Sleeping Beauty Float for Magic Kingdom's latest parade is a stunning, steam-pun interpretation of the battle between the prince and Malificent's dragon form.
Disney partnered up with Tony award winning designer Michael Curry to bring this idea to life. The float has intricate details (as do the accompanying costumes) The float is built so that when it moves, the different sections of the dragon are articulated and move independently, adding even more magic to the parade. As you can see, she spits fire and at the center of the dragon is a rotating circular piece of machinery. (It reminds me of Wicked in certain ways...)
The dragon float is 23 feet tall and a whopping 53 feet long.
